Rainfall
The Amazon receives up to nine feet of rain per year. 50% of the rain evaporates from the leaves before reaching the ground. Tens of millions of acres flood every year when snow in the Peruvian Andes melts. Many trees of the Amazon have vast root systems to withstand the floods. The rainfall is essential to living things in the Amazon Rainforest. It provides water which helps plants get nutrients.
